Jacqueline Mitchell recently joined the Oakland Schools literacy team in 2018. She is an Educational Improvement Consultant in the School, Culture, and Climate Unit of District & School Services. Jacqueline is supporting the read by grade three initiatives. The focus of her work is around the K-3 Essential Instructional Practices, Coaching Practices and School-Side Practices. She most recently served in this role with the Genesee Intermediate School District and as Reading Recovery Teacher Leader for Oakland Regional at Oakland University. Jacqueline spent 18 years as a classroom teacher and several years as a literacy coach.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and has an extensive background in early literacy development. She is excited to join the team.

Outside of the office, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenagers.  She enjoys reading, traveling, and practicing yoga.
